Jagath Guru Swami Sathyananda Saraswathi , the founder of SRDM (Sri Rama Dasa Mission) started Sree Rama Navami Ratha Yathra from Kollur Mookambika Temple in the year 1991 prior to Sree Rama Navami. Swamiji installed Sree Rama, Sita, Anjaneya, Sree Rama Paduka, Chooda Rathna of Sita Devi and Sree Mookambika Jyothiand portrait of Br. Neelakanda Guru Padar in the Ratha (Moving Temple).
Rama Paduka was brought from Ayodhya and Chooda rathna from Sita Devi Temple Sree Lenka.Swamiji has taken Sree Rama Rath to every nook and corner of Kerala and created awareness in the minds of Lakhs and Lakhs of people who were having no unity , vigour and enthusiasm. Swamiji through his electrifying speeches awaked the Hindus and charged with patriotism, self respect and courage. Sree Rama Navami Rarha Yathra played a vital role bringing all the Hindus together bredging the huge gap existed different casts and communities.
Later Swamiji entrusted the responsibility conduct the Ratha Yathra with Sreesakthi Saanthananda Maharshi and Swami Krishnananda Saraswathi. After the Maha Samadhi of Jagath Guru Swami Sathyananda Saraswathi , Swami Krishananda started Ratha Yathra in Maharashtra and Sreesakthi Saanthananda Maharshi started in Karnataka in the same period to 28 Districts .
In the year 2015 all the three Rata Yathra reached Thiruvanthapuram (State Capital of Kerala) to celebrate the silver jubilee of Ratha Yathra.
Now, in 2018, we want to expand its scope from Ayodhya to Rameshwaram. It will cover more than 6000 kms. and six states, over a period of 41days, upto Rameshwaram and further to Kanyakumari before ending at Sree Rama Dasa Ashram in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Rama Rajya Rath Yatra will be conducted by Sree Rama Dasa Mission Universal Society under the leadreship of its National President, H. H. Swami Krishnananda Saraswathiji and National General Secretary, H. H. Sreesakthi Saanthananda Maharshi. It will be with the cooperation of all Hindu organizations. The Hon. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanathji will be inaugurate the Ram Rajya Rath Yatra at Kaarsevakpuram, Ayodhya on 13th February 2018 (Sivaratri day).
